Season 1: Episode 9 - Look Homeward, Ray

Postby Spengs » April 30th, 2006, 4:28 pm

After all of Ray's success, it prompted his hometown of Morrisville to ask him to be the grand marshal in the town's parade. Not everyone is happy to see him when he gets into town. A jealous guy Ray once knew makes him look bad by casting ghostly spells, causing Ray to feel like he shouldn't be in our business anymore. Can The Real Ghostbusters get Ray to change his mind before a dangerous spell destroys Ray's hometown? Find out this weekend and all week long when Ray looks homeward.

Notes from the GBI Historian:

The Ghostbusters Omnibus Timeline and the GBI Timeline places the events of this story in Year Two, 1984.

It's interesting that in all Ghostbusters canon, Elaine Fuhrman is the only (living) potential love interest introduced for Ray, and even she's never heard from again after this episode. We see Winston with a girlfriend in the NOW comics (RGB#19,23), and mentioned in "The Devil to Pay", though never named on-screen. Venkman and Egon's love lives are, of course, explored extensively in the movies and the animation.

Ray's wife in the GBOT case files has not been revealed yet.

Is Morrisville where our boss, Dr. Stantz had his childhood home? "My parents left me that house, I was born there."

The speculation we put on the Timeline: Ray was born in the Bronx. ("Citizen Ghost") When he was a kid, his family moved to Morrisville, but kept ownership of that house in the Bronx.

Ray's family story is rather complicated--there were several references in various sources that at first glance didn't agree with each other. Our best guesses can be seen on the Ghostbusters Fact List entry for him.
