Season 2: Episode 14 - Janine's Day Off

Postby Spengs » June 23rd, 2006, 8:19 pm

Happy first weekend of summer everybody! With this kick off in summer weekend, Ghostbusters International® is happy to annouce the airing of season 2 of our hit cartoon, The Real Ghostbusters. And at least for the time being, you can still download and watch the entire first season.

In the season opener, Janine finally has a evening off having trained another receptionist to take over her duties. How will she spend her evening? By having dinner with her family and Egon. Before they leave Egon works on new ghostbusting technology which has Slimer checking it out...a little too closely. Causing a number of unwanted guests at the firehouse. Can Peter, Ray, Winston, and the new receptionist deal with a whammy of a problem without Egon? And when its all over, will Janine's Day Off be all she hoped it would be?

Notes from the GBI Historian:

The Ghostbusters Omnibus Timeline and the GBI Timeline places the events of this story in Year Two, 1984.

Episode Notes: Janine’s Day Off was the first episode to originally air in syndication. All episodes from season 2 aired in syndication.

They also aired simultaneously with Season 3 on ABC. Which was quite odd, to hear Venkman and Janine with their good...er, original voices, and then tune in Saturday Morning to hear them sound like morons...er, different.

I’ll leave it to you to draw your own conclusions. Why would Egon have dinner with Janine and her family if they’re friends?

Don't get me started on this, Rich...just don't. I'll just put this link to a case file called Forever and leave it at that... ;)

We get one really good shot of Janine's family in this episode, which seems to be comprised of her parents, her sister and nephew Victor (both mentioned in other episodes) a grandmother, and a either a brother or brother-in-law. Except for Victor, they're never officially named--Janine mentions her nephew Victor in "Victor The Happy Ghost".

In the Timeline canon, Janine's parents names are Fritz and Denise, her sister is Deann, Deann's husband is Joshua Irwin, and thus her nephew's full name is Victor Irwin. (Janine mentions a sister in another episode, but never a brother--under Ockham's Razor, the woman seen here is her sister, the man with him is her brother-in-law, and the kid is the same nephew mentioned in the other episode)
